Grocery Shopping Services

Many people are discovering the convenience of grocery shopping services. If your schedule prevents you from getting to the supermarket regularly, or if you simply hate grocery shopping, you might want to give it a try. Apart from the convenience, using a grocery shopping sevice has other advantages. For example, it eliminates impulse purchases, because you’ll need to write a detailed shopping list. Additionally, it cuts down on your fuel bill. In fact, it can actually work out cheaper than doing it yourself, if you factor in the cost of your time and transport.

Any grocery shopping service will need you to provide them with a shopping list. Some services provide you with a list of standard items, where you simply check off the ones you need. Others prefer you to create your own list. This should be easy to do. Bear in mind that most services will charge you a little more if they need to go to more than one shop to fill your order.

You would simply email your completed ist to the shopping service, and specify your delivery address and a delivery time. You might want your groceries delivered to your office, or it might suit you to have them delivered to your home –
after-hours delivery might be subject to an extra charge, of course.

Make sure that your list is specific about any special dietary requirements you have, and include preferred manufacturers and alternatives if necessary. You should include your phone number in case there are any problems with your order, or with delivery.

Some grocery shopping services will charge you a flat rate for shopping and delivery, while others will charge a minimum amount plus a percentage of the grocery bill. The service will generally give you the till slip and their invoice, so that you can see exactly what you are paying for. If you decide to use a service regularly, you may be able to open an account, and perhaps get a lower rate.
